 Boko Haram Stole $82 million and $36,000 in cash from inmates, according to prison officials.



According to two reliable sources with knowledge of the situation, inmates at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja are threatening a deadly riot after authorities claimed that Boko Haram insurgents who broke into the facility on Tuesday night carted off a sizable sum of money meant for the prisoners.


According to officials, the money was maintained with at least five prison staff members, including those in charge of the commissary, for a number of months.


According to a spokesperson, "one prison guard alerted 13 convicts this afternoon that all the money they kept with him had been taken." He was direct in informing them that he no longer had the N26 million.


The penitentiary is located about 43 kilometers from the city center.

At around 10:00 p.m., suspected Boko Haram militants broke into Abuja. According to defence minister Bashir Magashi, all inmates connected to Boko Haram escaped, despite some prisoners' refusal to benefit from the jailbreak.


Prisoners shouted that they had lost money during the raid as the president left the area, and some warned violence if officials did not restore their money.


When contacted for confirmation on Wednesday night, an official responded, "Yes, that is the issue we're now facing. Some folks lost money in dollars, while others lost money in naira.


The official said that affluent inmates inside the institution owned the money.


The official claimed that "those large men" were more incensed since they had kept millions with the warders. Approximately N82 million was reported
